A house full of culture. Located in the heart of Oskarshamn. Experience Döderhultarn’s world-famous wooden figures, get an insight into the maritime history that has put the city on the map, or take the opportunity to see one of the exhibitions in the art hall.

PROXIMITY. Oskarshamn’s cultural center houses the Döderhultarmuseum, Maritime Museum, and the exhibition ‘Moments from Oskarshamn,’ as well as an art gallery, image archive, and city library.

The Döderhultarmuseum showcases a unique collection of nearly 200 wooden sculptures by Döderhultarn, one of Sweden’s most famous woodcarvers. Born in 1868 in the Döderhult parish, he was a resident and artist in Oskarshamn throughout his adult life. These rough-hewn wooden figures depict both livestock and people from the turn of the century in Småland. A visit to the adjacent Maritime Museum provides an exciting insight into the development of maritime history in Oskarshamn and its surroundings. The museum displays various objects related to specialized crafts, ship models, navigation equipment, and much more. Local Artists

The photo exhibition ‘Moments from Oskarshamn,’ connected to the Döderhultarmuseum and Maritime Museum, portrays the city’s history and development from 1890 to 1970. In the Art Gallery on the ground floor of the Cultural Center, both local and regional artists, as well as those from further away, have the opportunity to showcase their work. The gallery hosts temporary exhibitions of contemporary Swedish art, as well as exhibitions with themes including photography, crafts, and cultural history.
