Högsby: More Kastell

Here on the mighty screes of Småland’s Grand Canyon with rock shelves and running water there is a nice flora of mosses and lichens. An eight-kilometre-long crack formation has been widened and deepened by the bodies of water that formed when the inland ice melted 12,000 years ago. The cool environment surrounded by high precipices differs from the dry pine forest above, and at the bottom of the valley flows the small river of Morån.

Mönsterås: Rökeriet

The location where Nabbens Rökeri & Fisk is located today had a fish processing facility already in the 1920s where fish from Kalmar Sound was prepared for onward transport via train to Europe. The smokehouse was added in the early 1950s. Now, more than 70 years later, fish is smoked in the same place using the same old techniques and craftsmanship as then. We are proud of our history and tradition of handling catches from the sea for over a hundred years. Welcome to the tasty ferry quay where the sea meets the land.

If you have difficulty walking, some segments can be difficult and depending on the weather conditions, the rocks can be slippery.
